Did the faith come from previously answered prayers? Or maybe it was a prayer born of desperation.
Courage to hope.
Isn't that exactly what farmers demonstrate every planting season?
They have the courage to hope that their investments of time, work, and resources will yield a harvest.
Jesus knew His audience; He knew what they could connect to. With one simple illustration, Jesus helped His followers to understand the power of a little faith, and a humble testimony.
18 Jesus said, “What is God’s kingdom like? What can I compare it with? 19 It is like what happens when someone plants a mustard seed in a garden. The seed grows as big as a tree, and birds nest in its branches.”
Luke 13: 18-19 CEV
And then one day a flyer came in the mail.
All of a sudden, what had seemed impossible appeared to be within my reach. My mustard seed of faith, and thirty-five dollars started me on a life-changing journey.
And don't think for a moment that it was a fairy godmother experience. It was five long years of work and sacrifice, with the Lord making provision all along the way.
Jesus said to the father, “Why did you say ‘if you can’? All things are possible for the one who believes.”
Mark 9:23 ERV
Prayers and blessings, Dear Reader, that your courage to hope, your faith, grows like a mustard tree. May it offer a haven to others and rest to you.
