For example, we moved into a newly remodeled home ten years ago. Well, mostly remodeled, the kitchen appliances hadn't been replaced. So we bought a new frige, and kept an eye on the stove for about a year until it had to be replaced.
In the meantime, we were certain the dishwasher was going to go at any second. Eventually, we stopped worrying about it. Then last night, as I was loading (since Tom still has no clue how this process is efficiently completed), I realized the appliance we thought was on its last leg had lasted ten years...gotta be a God thing!
God things come in all sizes, though, don't they? Our house is one of our many amazing God gotchas. When we were first married, Tom and I went on a homes tour and saw a house where the living room had a fireplace flanked by bookcases, and loved it. It was not to be, but God remembered.
When we returned to the Kansas City area, our finances were showing the consequences of some poor choices on our part. We didn't think we would ever be able to buy another home. Then God stepped in.
Driving around one evening, we spotted a home that looked just right for us from the outward appearance and the flyer. We decided to call the number, and the owner/remodeler said he'd be right over. Okay.....
As soon as Paul unlocked and opened the front door, Tom and I knew we were home. There was the fireplace flanked by bookcases! Amazing! God had remembered!
But sometimes, Satan arches his bony back and tries to steal God's glory and our pleasure. He threw up every roadblock he could. I was pouty and poor Tom was a nervous wreck.
God didn't have to step in this time; He'd been there all along. In ways we could not have imagined, He sorted everything out, and we even made money on the transaction! Gotta be a God thing!
God loves to show up in our lives in the most amazing ways! My dad was on the road before I started school. One time he came home with a two foot tall paper doll ... amazing! I think of that when I think about how God loves to surprise us with something that will bring us joy and smother us with His love.
What's been your "God gotcha moment" lately? Do you look for Him to show up in your life? Have you ever been that amazing "gotta be a God thing" moment in someone else's life?
10 Then the Lord said, “I am making this agreement with all of your people. I will do amazing things that have never before been done for any other nation on earth. The people with you will see that I, the Lord, am very great. They will see the wonderful things that I will do for you.
