You may recall that I consider our daughter, Mary, to be my publishing/platform mentor. A year ago last winter, Mary began encouraging me to get involved in writing organizations.
Like any good mentor, Mary let me simmer in some disillusions from the conference, but not boil over. Mary learned a long time ago how important it is for writers to connect with each other.
My role for the day was to facilitate aspiring writers hooking up with agents. What fun! I loved chatting with the writers in the hallway while they waited their turns to pitch their stories.
5 May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15: 5-6 RSV
Dear Reader, what is the journey you are longing to take? Have you had a false start, or maybe two? God's placed a dream in your heart, but it's up to you to give it feet and hands. (Trust me, I'm preaching to myself here, too.)
God gives us dreams, and gifts. Those gifts are for sharing. I'm beginning to think that the more we share our gifts, the more God fuels our dreams.
What do you think, Dear Reader? Dare we believe that a step in the right direction, no matter how small, can lead us on a journey of sharing our gifts and chasing our dreams?
